Tips how present yourself in modeling world

Try to create the first impression by using the dressed, shoes, hills for emphasizing legs, length. The fact that you would use a shoe with a good heel helps to reinforce the effect (softens the leg muscle features).

The second attribute which can impact is effective and moody facial expression. With the right mood creation, mouth and eyes could really be used to your advantage, work on your expressions in from of the mirror and remember how it feels.

This way it is easier for you to picture your face in certain environment.
Bust shape plays a crucial role. You must select the right clothing to enhance the positive effect that bust line may have.

Last, but not least, the eyes. Most of the communication with the camera has to get you deeply involved. You have to FEEL something special when you are communicating with the camera. Remember, the camera is your audience.

Mood:

You need to create a special mood with each shot in your portfolio. If each shot doesn't SAY something about you, then you are wasting your time. Eliminate all shots which are a duplication. Practice at home toward developing expressions and body positions which reinforce a certain mood before you go on a shoot. Never be satisfied - until you can show the picture to 10 people and at least 7 of them will identify the mood you were trying to create.

Expression:

The expression, or lack of it, will make or break a shot. If you are not feeling what you want to communicate....it's not going to work. The camera has an ability to tell an audience when a model is sincere. So, if you can't FEEL it, don't bother. You will have to practice more on mood and expression than any other aspect of the modeling profession

Clothes:

Clothes can make a portfolio stand out. Every shot should entail a different wardrobe (not just adding or changing accessories). As you change your wardrobe or costuming for each shot, your surroundings should also change. Your backdrop should reinforce whatever the choices of costume.

Watch out for bad (for you) clothing choices and the repetition which can result in monotonous, boring pictures and makes the viewer want to quit looking. After all, if the next shot is the same as the last....why look more? Try to use your wardrobe selection to your advantage emphasize your strong features and attributes.

Even with good dress, posing can be completely unimaginative, try to work on how posing can be used even more effectively to show off your best. Be very careful when you use accessories to make sure the accessory drapes well and adds to the strength of the shot. If your body proportions seem to work quite well together, make sure your costume selection does everything to emphasize that you are pretty well together. You need to put A LOT OF THOUGHT into each and every piece you are going to use for a particular shot. Ask yourself : " How will this article affect the mood, expression, idea and concept of the shot?" If you don't get a positive answer, go on to another selection. Remember to consider how each garment will affect the camera's perception of your body (YOUR WHOLE BODY). If it works for one part of your body, but not for others, you have to make a deci...

Modeling today has become one of the most favorite career options for youngsters in our country.

Modeling today has become one of the most favorite career options for youngsters in our country.
This is one of the most exciting as well as lucrative professions; it attracts males and females equally, though there was a time when females subjugated the field. With the spreading out of consumerism and media there has been a tremendous advancement in the ad industry. These along with expansion in fashion industry have made modeling an attractive career option. It has produced a large and continuing demand for spanking new faces and personas to instigate and promote a variety of branded products or show a garment to its best advantage. Modeling is, undoubtedly a glamorous field that offers tremendous opportunities to travel and meet various classes of people. Moreover once established it is a highly paid job. Even with all these plus points it involves lot of hard work, dedication and perseverance to be successful in this field. It is a highly competitive and short- lived career. Further, stress factor is high and the hours are inconsistent. The job also requires a lot of stamina and patience.
t is a profession where educational qualifications become insignificant and physical attributes and personal qualities presuppose importance. The main quality to become a model is the looks - he/ she should be tall, slender, attractive or good-looking. Perfect skin, good teeth, healthy and well cut hair are assets for those looking forward for a modeling career. Moreover one should be photogenic. Being photogenic is one of the most important qualities to have for a model.
A models basic promotional tool is a portfolio that consists of a series of photographs taken by a professional photographer. Only the best pictures of standard size (9 by 12 inches) must be included in the portfolio. The portfolio should ideally have a casual headshot, styled headshot, body shot, a fashion shot, action shot, an editorial shot and even a catalogue shot. Submit your portfolio to reputed coordinators, Agencies or Fashion designers and set up an appointment. Some Modeling agencies may have a time each week where a new model can go and see an agent. It is advisable to see several agencies before committing or signing a deal to anyone.
Choose an agency/coordinator carefully so you can stay with them for sometime as constantly changing agencies gives you a reputation of being flighty and unprofessional. Once you get a negative reputation it is difficult to sustain in the field, especially in the beginning. Another way to enter into this career is to apply for the contests sponsored by magazines, clothe manufactures, cosmetic companies etc and participating in beauty pageants. Once the agencies approve of the portfolio, they may call you for an interview. They may have a photo session. If they like you they will promote you among the clients and will look after legalities of the paper work for the job.
The agency will charge the client and pay you after deducting their commission. Be professionally at your best on the job that may help you get more assignments from the client. Get the pictures from the session you have done and add them to your portfolio. Keep in touch with your agency/coordinator; visit them once in a while to show you care for them. In the beginning you may have to face rejections. Once you choose modeling as your career, don't give up when you get frustrated and things don't move quickly. You need to be physically, mentally and emotionally strong to succeed as a good model.

What if the ultimate Internet access device turned out to be a phone? Yes, its already happening for a few in the rich world, but I'm talking about access for a billion people or more in the developing world, for which the driver is cost, not convenience. Despite all the efforts to spread Internet access, it is the mobile phone that has so far gone farther and faster into developing countries.
Cell phone services are very profitable, but they are not cheap for users. Use of text messaging, a data service that costs less than voice, has exploded where it is available. Now three disruptive technologies working together may bridge the divide even more effectively: fixed wireless networks (WiFI and WiMax) that are optimizied for data and are cheaper than mobile wireless; Voice-Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), that uses bandwidth efficiently; and WiFi phones (or mobiles with WiFi chips added on) that can provide local "walk-around" service within a local WiFi network.
This combination, described in more detail in a work-in-progress paper called A New Model for Rural Connectivity, can make local-to-local calls almost free. And phones don't require tech support or pose literacy and language barriers--other aspects of the divide. Yet they can provide a growing list of phone and voice-based Internet services. Check out our thinking, give us the benefit of your comments and criticisms, help us update the list of devices and applications that support this model. And watch for updates.

Agency contracts are (or should be) pretty straightforward. In fact many agents don't use a contract at all but do a handshake deal and let the agency clause in the publishing contract govern the relationship. At the moment I am working sans contract because by and large I am working with people I know and like and who trust me, and I don't presume that they should be beholden to me if they want to work with someone else on future books. This is a relationship business after all, and if I can't sustain my relationships I should find another line of work.
When needed, I do a deal memo outlining the agent-client relationship. Here's what it looks like: I charge a 15% commission on US sales, a 20% commission on foreign rights sales (where I may use a sub-agent), and in the event the client decides to terminate our relationship while I'm working on a particular project I ask for 60 days to finish up with whatever leads I have. Plus, I reserve the right to invoice clients for copying and/or postage fees on submissions. This is all fairly standard and, I believe, fair.
Someone just sent me a contract for an agency that will go nameless here, but I was amazed to see what some agents get away with. The agent asks for a $500 from his client on signing the author-agent agreement, and further stipulates that the entire agency commission for the advance is taken from the client's first proceeds. So if you have a $20,000 advance and a $3000 signing payment, the agency would take the entire signing advance.
My advice? Never sign a contract with an agent that asks for expense money up front -- there are plenty of legitimate agents who do charge for copying and postage -- but spending hundreds of dollars up front for an agent who hasn't even submitted your proposal is a very bad idea.
And maybe I'm wrong and the practice of taking the entire commission up front is more common than I believe, but if I were an author I would avoid signing with an agent who is paid from first proceeds.
As an agent I have a fiduciary responsibility to my client, and I have an interest in ensuring that my client is paid promptly, paid correctly, and represented in all matters pertaining to the book to the best of my ability. If a book should suddenly go south, an author needs an agent who likewise won't get paid unless the problem is fixed.
